Choosing a quality contractor:

Know what results you are trying to achieve. Is there a room that is always
cold? Are the existing pipes
noisy? Do you run out of hot
water? Providing the contractor
with the necessary information is critical to getting the heating system results
you want.

Check for licenses. Choosing
a licensed contractor gives you certain rights in the State of CT.

Check references. A reliable
contractor always has a list of his customers who you can call to check on
performance.

Be sure the contractor properly evaluates your home. This will take some time, and require
taking measurements of each room, window area, baseboard/radiation area, and
insulation levels, among other things. A quality contractor will be
able to provide you with documentation of his findings. This is the only way to ensure a
properly sized heating system. An improperly sized system may not
supply sufficient heat and hot water, and will likely be more expensive to
operate.

WHY AN ANNUAL TUNE-UP?
Like your car, your heating system is a set of mechanical components. These components work together to provide you with heat and hot water. Should one of these components fail, you may wake up cold or have to take a cold shower. So, like your car, your heating system needs routine maintenance: an annual tune-up.
First, an annual tune-up helps to keep your system operating at its peak efficiency. This helps you get optimum heat from your oil, and may help you save as much as 10% on your oil bill! It’s also the time for a technician to look for potential issues with your heating system, possibly preventing a breakdown at a later date. And by testing the efficiency of your heating system when he completes the tune-up, our technician can advise you when you might need to consider new heating equipment.

Adjust the draft regulator
Check the ignition system
Lubricate pumps and motors
Check smoke pipe and combustion chamber
